I have been fortunate to be in an amazing situation with a band that has continued to advance in the face of disillusionment, adversity, and often little support.
Despite the odds, The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra has continued to move forward, always on the cutting edge, through the direction of Arturo O’Farrill and the consistent support of the band members.
Today, November 17th, 2016, we are honored to receive the Grammy Award for the Best Latin Jazz Album, for our recording:
Cuba: The Conversation Continues

I am very excited to announce that our new CD:
"Cuba: The Conversation Continues”
Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra
was released on August, 21st, 2015!!!
"Recorded in Havana 48 hours after President Obama announced his plan to normalize relations between the U.S. and Cuba, "Cuba: The Conversation Continues" is a powerful symbol of cultural diplomacy, a juxtaposition of music and current events. The new album builds upon the conversation started by Dizzy Gillespie and Cuban percussionist Chano Pozo - a musical dialogue that bridged the gap between jazz and Afro-Cuban music. O'Farrill brings top composers from both the U.S. and Cuba to create a dazzling musical tapestry, successfully fulfilling Dizzy s dream of creating 'universal music’."
